Bloodborne Pathogens in Healthcare: What Employers and Employees Need to Know

It’s estimated there are 800,000 needlestick injuries annually among healthcare workers alone. Every day, more than 5.6 million workers are at risk to bloodborne pathogen exposures. Workers reasonably expected to have contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) are at risk. It’s vital that employers provide proper training and containment plans to ensure employees are protected and qualified to work in this specialized environment.
